Israeli government received criticism from the international community, for its plans to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank significantly.
UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon expressed deep concern and disapointed that the Israeli government plans to build more than three thousand housing units in East Jerusalem and other parts of the West Bank, including the area known as the E-1 area.
"Settlements are illegal under international law and, in the construction of E-1 would be a fatal blow to the remaining opportunities to secure a two-state solution," Ban said, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, Monday (03/12/2012).
The Israeli government policy to expand the settlement of its citizens in the West Bank, the Palestinians managed to win out after a vote in the United Nations), and obtain the status of non-member observer state.
Of 193 members of the UN General Assembly, as many as 138 of them support the Palestinian permpohonan, while only nine members were opposed, and 41 abstentions.
